Educational Qualification
  • For Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk & Train Clerk: You must have passed your 12th class (Intermediate). General/OBC/EWS candidates need at least 50% marks. SC/ST/PH candidates only need passing marks.
  • For Accounts Clerk Cum Typist & Junior Clerk Cum Typist: You need the same 12th pass rules as above. Additionally, you need a computer typing speed of 30 words per minute in English OR 25 words per minute in Hindi.

Examination Details

The RRB NTPC exam is conducted in different stages. Here is everything you need to know about the exam structure:

  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). You will give the test on a computer at your assigned exam center.
  • Exam Stages: There are mainly two stages of the computer test (CBT-1 and CBT-2). After clearing these, there is a typing test for some specific posts, and finally, document verification.
  • Question Types: All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). You have to choose one correct answer out of four given options.
  • Subjects Covered: The test will check your knowledge in General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning.
  • Negative Marking: Be careful while answering. There is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer you select.
  • Admit Card Requirement: You must bring a printed copy of your admit card and a valid original photo ID card (like an Aadhar Card or Voter ID) to the exam hall. Without these, you will not be allowed to take the exam.

Salary Details

Getting a job in the Indian Railways brings a good salary and many extra benefits. For the 10+2 Undergraduate level posts like Junior Clerk, Accounts Clerk, and Trains Clerk, the salary structure is very attractive.

  • Basic Pay: The starting basic salary for most 10+2 UG posts is Rs. 19,900 per month. For the post of Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, the basic pay is slightly higher at Rs. 21,700 per month.
  • Allowances: Along with the basic pay, you will get extra money called allowances. This includes Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance.
  • Total Monthly Salary: After adding all the allowances to your basic pay, your total monthly in-hand salary will be much higher. The exact total amount depends on the city where you are posted.
